Take control of ageing skin

Thermage is a noninvasive skin tightening treatment designed to soften lines and tighten skin on the face, eyelids and body. It stimulates existing collagen and promotes new collagen growth to revitalise your skin from the inside out.

Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of your skin. It kick starts your body’s own natural renewal process. Most patients need just one treatment to see noticeable results.

Thermage can be used for:

Face and Neck

Eyelids

Arms

Tummy, Thighs & Buttocks

A single treatment can deliver results that last.

Thermage was an early pioneer of using radiofrequency energy in the treatment of wrinkles. In the 20 years since the first Thermage system debuted, there have been over 50 clinical studies published and over two million treatments performed. Our system, Thermage FLX, is the fourth generation of this ground-breaking treatment.

Thermage FLX is more comfortable than its predecessors. It is also the first generation of the system to include intelligent AccuRep technology. This uses real-time automatic calibration to optimise energy delivery, so you get a consistent skin tightening treatment that can improve over time.

Your Thermage® Treatment

Preparation

The first step of your treatment is preparing your skin. This involves cleansing the area and applying a temporary grid to guide the treatment. Your comfort is paramount, so we will ensure you are relaxed and ready before proceeding.

Treatment

Thermage FLX employs radiofrequency technology to heat the deeper layers of your skin where collagen resides. The treatment tip vibrates and cools the surface of your skin to maintain your comfort while heating the underlying tissue. As the treatment progresses, you might feel a brief, deep heating sensation – a sign that the RF energy is penetrating your skin.

Downtime

The treatment session typically lasts about 45 minutes to an hour for facial treatments and up to 90 minutes for other areas. There is no required downtime. Post-treatment, you can return to your regular activities immediately.

Could Thermage® FLX Be Right for Me?

Thermage FLX is intended for those who are noticing signs of ageing but are not ready for invasive surgery. It is particularly beneficial if you’re looking to:

  • Tighten mildly to moderately sagging skin
  • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enhance skin texture and tone

This treatment is versatile and can cater to a wide range of skin types and ages, typically starting from those in their late thirties to those who are older. All skin colours can be treated.

Although Thermage is a noninvasive treatment, it is not for everyone. You might need to explore other options if you:

  • Have severe skin laxity
  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Have tattoos in the desired treatment area
  • Have certain medical conditions, such as active infections in the treatment area
  • Have an implanted medical device, such as a pacemaker
  • Have unrealistic expectations

At LaBeauty, your treatment starts with a detailed consultation where a member of our team will assess your skin, discuss your aesthetic goals and determine whether Thermage® FLX is an appropriate treatment for you. We are committed to providing you with honest advice and education that helps you select a treatment that aligns with your desires and needs.

Thermage®
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Thermage system?

The Thermage system is a noninvasive radiofrequency (RF) therapy that can help in smoothing, tightening and contouring skin on the face, eyes and body. There is no need for surgery or injections, and there is little to no downtime. Thermage FLX is the latest generation of Thermage devices. It represents an improved experience for both providers and patients, offering more comfortable and more consistent skin tightening treatments.

How does the Thermage system work?

As we age, the collagen that helps to keep our skin firm breaks down. This results in ageing skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Thermage FLX directs radiofrequency energy into the deeper layers of your skin. The heat causes your existing collagen fibres to contract and encourages new collagen to begin growing. The result is a gradual tightening and smoothing of your skin, with improvements in skin tone and texture.

What are the benefits of Thermage?

The advanced technology of Thermage FLX offers a variety of advantages, including:

  • Nonsurgical and noninvasive treatment
  • Natural skin rejuvenation
  • No injections, no chemicals, no incisions
  • Suitable for a variety of skin types
  • Suitable for multiple areas of the face and body
  • Integrated cooling and vibration aid in patient comfort
  • Little to no downtime
  • Mild side effects for most patients
  • Most patients achieve noticeable results with one session
What areas can be treated with Thermage?

These are some of the key areas where Thermage can make an impact:

  • Face — smooth fine lines and wrinkles, redefine contours and improve the overall skin texture
  • Eyes — reduce hooding, soften fine lines, tighten and lift the upper eyelids
  • Neck and Jawline — tighten skin, reduce the appearance of sagging and jowls, and create a more defined jawline

Body — improve the appearance of loose or crepey-looking skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite dimples on the abdomen, arms, thighs and buttocks

How should I prepare for my Thermage treatment?

Your preparation starts with a consultation where we discuss your goals and expectations. This is a great time to address any questions or concerns you may have about the procedure.

Some medications and supplements can increase the risk of bruising. It’s advisable to avoid blood-thinning agents and certain herbal supplements for a few days before your appointment, but always consult your doctor before stopping any medication.

Keep your skin care routine gentle in the days leading up to the treatment. Avoid using any harsh scrubs, exfoliants or retinoid-based products. Minimise sun exposure to the treatment area and use sunscreen diligently.

Who will perform my Thermage treatment?

Your Gold Coast Thermage treatment will be performed by one of LaBeauty’s trained and experienced providers, who will evaluate your skin and recommend an appropriate course of treatment.

How long is a single Thermage treatment?

The duration of your treatment will depend on the size, location and condition of the area we’re targeting. As a general guide, most Thermage FLX treatments take between 25 and 90 minutes. Because we do not need to administer anaesthesia before the treatment, you do not need to plan to be at the clinic for much additional time on top of the treatment time.

Does a Thermage FLX treatment hurt?

The Thermage FLX system includes a vibration mechanism that operates during treatments, which has been shown to improve patient comfort. You will feel a brief heating sensation when the handpiece of the device touches your skin, followed by a cooling sensation that helps to protect your skin and minimise discomfort. Your provider will ask for feedback on the level of heat sensation during your treatment to help balance your comfort level.

When can I resume my usual daily activities?

Thermage FLX requires little to no downtime. Most clients return to their regular activities immediately after their Thermage treatment. No special care is required post-treatment, aside from basic skin maintenance and daily sunscreen application as part of your regular skincare routine.

Specific aftercare instructions may be provided depending on your individual treatment plan. While the recovery period is minimal, it’s important to monitor your skin for any unusual reactions and contact LaBeauty if you have any concerns.

What are the common side effects?

Some patients experience redness or swelling after treatment, but this is usually mild and goes away within 24 hours.

Rare side effects include: surface irregularities, temporary altered skin sensation (numbness or tingling), lumps or nodules, blisters or burns, scar formation, pigment changes.

How soon could I see results from a Thermage treatment?

You may start to see and feel the results of your Thermage treatment within one day after your session. However, these are just preliminary results. Your results will continue to develop as your body creates more collagen in the treated area. You can experience continued improvements in skin tightness and contouring for up to six months as your body generates new collagen.

The exact timeline can vary from person to person, depending on factors like age, skin condition and lifestyle. Some individuals may see results sooner, while others may notice them gradually over time.

How many Thermage treatments might I need?

Many nonsurgical cosmetic procedures require multiple sessions, but Thermage is different. Thermage FLX can deliver results after a single treatment, and the results continue to improve over four to six months.

How long does the treatment last?

The effects of Thermage are not permanent, but they are long-lasting. Many clients experience a prolonged period of enhanced skin quality and firmness lasting up to one to two years.

Maintaining a good skincare routine post-treatment, including proper hydration, sun protection and high-quality skincare products, can help prolong the results. Some clients opt for follow-up treatments every few years to maintain their results.

How does Thermage compare to other treatments?

Some people are seeking the significant results of surgery or have more advanced signs of ageing that cannot be addressed with nonsurgical methods. Others desire the more subtle, gradual results of a nonsurgical treatment and the additional benefit of little to no downtime. Thermage may be an appealing option for those with mild skin laxity and superficial wrinkles who are not seeing the results they want from their skincare routine but are not ready for a surgical procedure.
